Hi, I’m Sophia.
I am a yoga instructor, art gallerist, and writer. With a Master’s degree in art history and penchant for existential dwelling, my work tends to lean into the morbid, the esoteric, and the beautiful. I write about anything and everything that sparks my interest – usually within the realm of visual culture, phenomenology, affect theory, women’s literature, religion, and yoga.
I am deeply inspired by paradoxes and dichotomous relations. You can often find me reading the diaries of imperfect women (in fact, I obsess over imperfection to the point of idolization; it is the great humanizing force that is foundational to empathy).
More about me: I have a long-standing crush on Leonard Cohen. When I’m anxious, I go for long walks in the woods. When I’m happy, I go for long walks in the woods. Pomegranate juice tastes best when licked from the wrist of a loved one. I often stare at myself in the mirror and wonder if I am real. If I could be anything in the world, it would be a fig tree; not the Plathian allegory that has seemingly structured the web of womanhood, but simply a tree rooting into the damp earth, spreading her limbs wide, and producing fruit for the taking. My favorite drink is a Negroni. I try not to make too much sense of morality. Or mortality. I like dressing up and looking pretty. I feel most alive when jumping into a cold body of water on a hot day.
